On May 26th 2011 a new EU originated law came into effect that requires website owners to make significant changes to their sites and may fundamentally change the whole web browsing and shopping experience for everybody. This Cookie Law is amended privacy legislation that requires websites to obtain informed consent from visitors before they can store or retrieve any information on a computer or any other web connected device.
Website owners were given 12 months grace to comply with this new regulation. Newforestbedbreakfast.co.uk has now updated all its pages and created a Privacy page which explains the cookie policy of this website.
In a nutshell, if a surfer lands on one of our pages, there is a highlighted link and warning that cookies are being used; the linked page explains that users who do NOT want cookies used must either "turn off" cookies on their own computer or leave this website.

Site Upgrade

07/02/11 :
Newforestbedbreakfast.co.uk has been completely re-designed during the winter and launches in the first week of February 2011.
A new stylish and contemporary visual appearance and simplified navigation improves the user experience and keeps the site in tune with the latest developments and trends on the internet.
The popular interactive map has larger pop-up windows giving advertisers more space to highlight their B&Bs selling points.
Greater use of css and improved, streamlined scripts have improved both appearance and delivery speed.
The site has also been optimised for use by roaming users and those on the move, who pay for their internet usage per Gb of downloaded data, many of whom "turn off" images.

hCard introduced

29/11/09 :
The new hCard structured data markup has been introduced on the Complete List page.
Names, Addresses, telephone numbers etc are formatted in such a way that spiders and other aggregators can retrieve this information, automatically convert them to vCards, and use them in any vCard application or service.
Google is currently experimenting with this technology.
hCard has been introduced on this website as an additional service to both advertisers and users. It adds to the functionality and future-proofs the directory.

Random Display introduced

20/10/09 :
All B&B lists on this website are now displayed in a random order. This means all advertisers get an equal chance of appearing on the page landing screen.
Every time a page featuring a B&B list is loaded or refreshed in a browser, the placement of the entries changes in a completely random pattern.

Menu upgraded

24/10/09 :
The main navigation menu on the left hand side has been improved. Each item now has a full width link area with alternating rollover colour.
The "B&Bs with Special Features" section has been moved from the centre of the page to a new expandable menu item. This features links directly to advertisers websites.

Update Feb 2011:
The Special B&Bs section now has its own menu in the right hand column, every B&B being permanently displayed.
